UMS New Zealand and Civic Contractors are thrilled to have started a trial of the Gumdrop at Auckland Council‘s Te Manawa (the new library located at Westgate) and Auckland Council’s West Wave Pool and Leisure Centre in Henderson.
Gumdrop Ltd was founded by Anna Bullus in 2009 to tackle the global problem of chewing gum litter. Gumdrop Ltd is the first company in the world to recycle and process chewing gum into a range of new compounds that can be used in the rubber and plastics industry. With Gumdrop’s help, recycled and processed chewing gum can become a vast number of things from wellington boots to mobile phone covers, stationery to packaging and much more.
By using Gumdrop, UMS hopes to reduce the amount of used chewing gum on our footpaths. In addition to cleaner paths, we will also see savings in the amount of water and energy we use to clean up chewing gum.
