Commitment to Health and Safety

The Urban Maintenance Systems (UMS) team were out and about, last week, showing their commitment to health and safety. But this time, in a very different manner.

The UMS team joined the Auckland Council staff as they filmed a health and safety induction video. The camera crew from Vision8 held the filming at Te Rangi Hiroa Youth Park in Ranui.

This location was particularly special to one of UMS‘ staff members, Richard Hetaraka. Richard played an active role in the establishment of the park prior to working with UMS.

Auckland Council’s Senior Health and Safety Advisor, Richard Lam, co-ordinated the filming of the video. He said, “it was great to spend time with UMS filming about putting people first when it comes to health and safety.  Our contractors do a significant amount of our work and we care for them in the same way we care for our staff.”

UMS is not just a facilities maintenance provider. We care about the health and safety of our employees and we are also about supporting the local community and protecting the environment.  Aside from training our staff to think safe at all times,  we also strive to demonstrate one of UMS’ core values – safety –  across the local communities by getting involved.
