UMS is proud to hand out its first Employee Award, for safety recognition, to Doug Archer.
The culture in every business contributes positively or negatively to the health and safety of its employees. This award recognises the importance of establishing and maintaining a positive health and safety culture in our workplace. And implementing practices which ensure the health of our employees, contractors or visitors to the business alike.
Mr Archer alerted UMS’ General Manager, Vesta Gribben, to the severe weather events pending Auckland. He proactively advocated that safety alerts be sent out to all staff and contractors to ensure their welfare.
During the storms, at least 2,000 homes were in the dark as the wild weather hit the North island. Thousands of Auckland and Northland residents experienced power cuts as car crashes and high winds brought down power lines.
Mr Archer’s proactive and preventative approach displayed one of UMS’ core values – safety. At UMS our team and their families are paramount and will always come first.
For this, we would like to congratulate Mr Archer.
